Memino

Privacy policy

Last updated 17 September 2026. This page covers the Memino iPhone app and this website.

The short version

1. Who is responsible

The controller under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is:

Johannes Raiser
Bärbel-Bohley-Ring 36
13355 Berlin
Germany
Email: hello@memino.app

We are not required to appoint a data protection officer. For anything about your data, write to the address above.

2. The app

2.1 What you save stays on your iPhone

Your memories, people, lists, dates, photos and codes are stored only inside the app on your iPhone. Memino has no user accounts and no servers that receive this content, and the app itself sends none of it over the internet. We cannot see it, and we could not hand it to anyone if asked.

2.2 Your iCloud backup

If iCloud Backup is switched on for your iPhone, the app's data is part of that backup, which is how a new or replaced phone gets your memories back. The backup is stored by Apple under Apple's terms and privacy policy; we have no access to it. If you switch iCloud Backup off, nothing from Memino leaves your phone this way.

2.3 Exports you make

When you use "Export a backup", the app creates a file and opens the iOS share sheet, and you choose where the file goes. That file is not encrypted. An export "With codes" contains your codes in readable form; it is handed straight to the share sheet and is not kept on your phone afterwards. Wherever you send or store an export, that service's terms apply.

2.4 Permissions, and when they are used

iOS asks you before the app can use any of these, and you can change your answer at any time in the iPhone Settings app. Each one is used only when you use the feature that needs it.

2.5 "Ask your memory" and Apple Intelligence

On iPhones that support Apple Intelligence, "Ask your memory" answers your questions with Apple's on-device language model. Your question and the memories needed to answer it are processed on your iPhone and are not sent to us or to any AI service. The values of your codes are never given to the model. On other iPhones, it shows search results instead.

2.6 Apple services the app hands you over to

Some features use Apple's own services, provided by Apple under Apple's privacy policy. We receive nothing from them.

2.7 Subscription

Memino Pro is sold through the App Store. Apple handles the purchase and payment and is responsible for that data. We do not receive your name, your Apple ID or your payment details. The app asks Apple, on your phone, whether a subscription is active. Apple gives us sales reports that do not identify you.

2.8 Crash reports and statistics from Apple

If you have allowed it on your iPhone (Settings, Privacy & Security, Analytics & Improvements, Share With App Developers), Apple shares crash reports and usage statistics with us that do not identify you by name. We use them only to find and fix problems. You can switch this off there at any time.

2.9 Beta testing with TestFlight

If you test a pre-release version through Apple's TestFlight, we see the name and email address used for your invitation, and anything you choose to send through TestFlight: feedback, screenshots and crash reports, together with your device model and iOS version. We use this only to run the beta and fix what you report (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b) and (f)). We remove your details when the beta ends or earlier if you ask.

3. This website

This website is hosted by Cloudflare, Inc., 101 Townsend St, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA. To deliver the pages and protect them from attacks, Cloudflare necessarily processes technical data about each visit, such as your IP address, the time, the page requested and your browser's details. Cloudflare does this on our behalf under a data processing agreement. Cloudflare is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, which covers transfers of this data to the United States. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in a working, secure website (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)).

The website sets no cookies, uses no analytics or tracking, and loads no fonts, scripts or images from anywhere else.

4. When you email us

If you write to hello@memino.app, we receive your email address and whatever you write, and use them to answer you (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b) or (f)). Please do not send us the contents of your memories or your codes; we never need them to help. We delete the conversation once your question is settled, at the latest twelve months after your last message, unless the law requires us to keep it longer. Email to this address is delivered through Cloudflare's email routing service and kept in our mailbox, which Google provides; both are companies in the United States, and Cloudflare's certification under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework is described in section 3.

5. Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to its processing, and to receive it in a portable format. Where processing is based on our legitimate interest, you may object at any time. To use any of these rights, write to hello@memino.app.

Because the app's content never reaches us, the data about you that we could hold is limited to what is described in sections 2.9, 3 and 4. To delete what the app stores on your phone, use "Delete all data" in the app's Settings, or delete the app. Your iCloud backups are managed in your iPhone's Settings.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, in particular in the EU country where you live or work.

6. Children

Memino is not directed at children under 16. Because the app sends us nothing, we do not collect data about anyone who uses it, whatever their age.

7. If you live outside the EU

The same promises apply wherever you are: the app sends us nothing, we do not sell or share personal information, and we use no advertising or tracking. This page is written to the EU's GDPR because that is the law where we are based. If the law of your country gives you rights over your personal data, for example the UK GDPR, the California Consumer Privacy Act, Brazil's LGPD or Canada's PIPEDA, you can exercise them by writing to hello@memino.app. We answer everyone the same way, whatever law applies to you, and we have never sold personal information.

8. Changes to this policy

We update this page when the app or the website changes what happens to your data, and change the date at the top. If a future version of the app were ever to send any data off your phone, this policy will say so before that version is released.
